ULTRASOUND is a fictional soundwalk created by Julia Drouhin in Arthur Circus, Hobart, Tasmania, commissioned by Constance Gallery in October 2015. Inspired by archival facts, ULTRASOUND reveals what can't be seen behind facing facades of single wharfies living in 1852. ULTRASOUND travel through space and time, playing with inside/outside, public/private, secured/surveilled spaces. What happens in a residential panopticon architecture, the only circus in Australia? Any sound can be noticed.
Turn on your internet on your phone with headphones. Start walking from the house 41 called "Beau Monde 1810" and listen around the Circus anticlockwise, following 15 audio tracks audible in front of each house.
All sounds were field recorded by Julia Drouhin in Tasmania between 2012 and 2015. Thanks to Andrew Harper for his voice....
